Speaker Profile: Dr John Provost

Dr John Provost has over 33 years experience in the field of ink-jet, with a particular expertise in the global digital textile ink jet printing industry and of textile ink jet application technology. John has held senior technical and marketing positions with many of the leading chemical companies active in colour chemistry, ink-jet colorants, ink formulation for textiles, office, wide-format graphics and industrial printing, e.g. Instrumental Colour Systems Ltd, Courtaulds plc, ICI, Zeneca, Avecia Ltd (now part of FujiFilm Imaging Colorants Ltd) and BASF. He has been actively involved in the development of many of the commercial digital textile industrial jet printing systems launched in the market.

In 2009 John was co-awarded the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (USA) Millson Prize for Invention and developments in Digital Textile Printing for the development of the first commercial digital textile printing technology system in 1991. He has published over 110 Papers on colour physics, textile chemistry and ink-jet technology as well as a number of patents in ink-jet technology) and has presented numerous lectures and papers at international conferences. He is currently the Technical Editor of “Digital Textile Magazine”, the only dedicated magazine aimed at the Digital Textile Printing Industry. In 2006 John started Provost Ink Jet Consulting Ltd to provide technical and business consultancy to the industrial ink-jet printing market and he has a client base is in Europe, USA and the Far East.

John holds a BSc in Colour Chemistry and PhD in Colour Physics from the University of Bradford. He is a fellow of the Society of Dyers and Colourists and was awarded the Society’s Silver Medal for developments in Textile Printing.
